On June 21, 2016, the Federal Aviation Administration released new rules governing the use of small unmanned aircraft (drones) in the airspace of the United States.

According to Part 107, commercial operators, including farmers, realtors and surveyors, can now operate drones without a pilot’s license, with some restrictions.   Part 107 requires that in order to take advantage of these reduced requirements, the drone should weigh less than 55 pounds, be operated only during daylight hours, and remain in the visual line of sight of the operator.

Additional requirements and the complete rule can be found at this weblink: http://www.faa.gov/uas/media/RIN_2120-AJ60_Clean_Signed.pdf.
